You like to pursue? Hm, I think I can dig it in your case, but don’t get used to it Evans. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, WHOA! Who said anything about sleeping with anyone? I have asked you out since we were third years. I didn’t even know what sex was when I was a third year. *grumbles* It’s Sirius who has no standards, Evans.
I am not pursuing you, James. I don’t need or want a relationship so deal with it. Merlin’s sake. James. I didn’t mean it like that—okay *grins* I meant it exactly like that. Oh come off it, Potter. I’m sure Sirius has at least one standard.
Oh, you’re so hurtful, Evans.
You say that, but your eyes say different. You should stop lying to yourself and go out with me. *gives a crooked grin* The whole fun of getting with a girl is the chase. I don’t want someone who throws herself at me.
Oh, the chase you say. Well, I’m not the kind of bird who likes to be pursued, Potter. I like to do the pursuing, and to be honest, you’re still the last person on Earth I’d sleep with. *rolls eyes* Oh, at least I now know you’ve got standards, Potter.
S’cause I’m an amazing Chaser, and I can’t help but draw attention to my bloody awesome skills.
*Reads the title* That one of your muggle books? Doesn’t look like it’d be interesting. Well, he was mostly screaming my name, which must’ve gotten your attention. And it’s hard not to flatter myself when you make it so obvious that-even if you don’t think so-you fancy me, Evans. Can’t say I’m surprised, though. I’m used to loads of female attention.
You’re an amazingly cocky asshole, Potter and no more than that.
*snatches book* Yes, yes it is one of my “muggle” books Potter. You really must get used to him screaming your name Potter because I sure as hell will never be doing that. *grins* Oh really? If you get so much female attention, then how come you constantly pester me, hmm? I can’t stand you and every time I turn around you’re right there.
There are other players on brooms, you know. Though it is nice that you single me out.
Hm, well you never know what you actually pay attention to when you have that little nose of yours stuck in a book, Evans. Must not’ve been all that interesting if you were listening to the match.
You seem to single yourself out, Potter.
Yes, well. *clears throat* This book *holds book out* is and always will be more interesting than you and your ruddy little game of Quidditch. I couldn’t help but listen because the damn announcer wouldn’t stop screaming. Really, you need to stop flattering yourself, James.
Was it? Even so, I don’t think I have to tell you that we won the match thanks to myself of course. Hufflepuff caught the Snitch, but I scored enough goals to make that not even relevant. We won 170 to 160. What book was so interesting that you didn’t bother to watch me-the team kick some Puff arse?
Actually, it was much more entertaining than watching you fly around on some broom for however long that ruddy game lasts. I was still in the stands, Potter. I heard the score being screamed out—I know everything about the game, I just wasn’t watching. Never said I wasn’t listening now did I, Potter?
*talking to Sirius* …And then did you see how I faked that git out and threw the Quaffle into the highest hoop? Brill, right? *looks over and sees Lily walking in and he saunters over to her*
Hey, Evans. D’you like the match?
*reentering the common room, returning from the pitch and sees James approaching her, rolling her eyes.* Didn’t watch it. The book I’ve been reading seemed more—interesting.
Sometimes, Lily liked to get away. She liked to leave her room, throw on a sweater and just…escape. She liked to walk the grounds, watching as the birds flew overhead. She especially liked to watch the trees, whose leaves had begun to change from their vibrant greens to the bright oranges and reds that came along once summer ended. The weather was cooling, which required her to pull her sweater tighter on her body. As she marched along, the leaves crunching underneath her feet, she took a deep breath, taking in the cool air and smiling.
James climbed out of the bed after Lily and threw his clothes on. He smoothed out some of the wrinkles from his white button-up, and looked around the room for a few moments before remembering with a smirk that his tie was hanging on the doorknob. He left the top couple of buttons undone, and tied his tie loose around his neck. It was a school night, and they still had a patrol to do, so he figured it’d be easiest to wear it. “We can work on our homework so it doesn’t start to pile up. It’s not the most enjoyable thing to do, but I know you want to try to beat Remus for top of our class. I don’t want you to fall behind. Plus, I’ve been getting pretty good marks lately, and I want to try to keep it up. It’ll be something to do before we have to go do our patrol of the castle tonight.”
“Well, homework isn’t all that bad,” she laughed. Not as fun as what they just did, she thought but it was no matter. “Homework it is,” she laughed, finishing buckling back on her shoe. “You have been doing well lately, I’ve been rubbing off on you. Impressive seeing as Remus has been your friend for…Merlin knows how long and I’ve managed to make a working man out of you,” she chuckled making her way back over to James. She kissed him on the cheek, ruffling his dark hair around on his head. “Sorry, I’ve always wanted to do that,” she chuckled, repeating the same action again. “So, shall we get started on our homework or what?” she grinned.
No, not the guy behind you, though, he can come to.
